OK ok, all you quilters out there are laughing, right? Not many of us like making t-shirt quilts. I'm learning to enjoy it more, but they are challenging to say the least! First you have to stabilize every shirt, then figuring out a good layout is always challenging, cutting them apart takes a lot of time, and then of course sewing them back together...all while dealing with thicker seams, and sometimes the shirts are different materials making it treacherous even for the best longarm quilters! But then when it's done and you take it all in...there's just something about wrapping up in a blanket made of memories. My favorite t-shirt quilts are the ones pieced by someone else that are brought to me for quilting like this one made by my friend Lorie.
I grew up in a family of Cubs fans so this one is especially fun! Lorie requested blue thread (Signature stone blue) and let me choose the pattern. I went with Hot Cross Buns by Longarm League. The minky on the back is really nice, it almost looks like a grunge minky if there is such a thing. Lorie knows her son already loved the quilt before it was quilted, she showed it to him for Christmas and then took it back so she could get it quilted and bound!
